Gosford RSL Fshing Club V Bateau Bay Hotel Fishing club

Hi,

This coming weekend we have the first of our biannual competitions against the Bateau Bay Hotel Fishing Club.

The updated Competition Rules and Species Size &  Bag Limits sheets are attached.

A few things you should be aware of

1. We will not be using the Terrace Area of the RSL for the weigh-in as previously.

2. The weigh-in will be held in the glassed-in area (smoker’s area) off the club’s auditorium (or Coral Room). This area has doors opening onto the paved area at the main entrance to the RSL Club. When facing the club entrance door the doors to the weigh-in area are just to the left.

3. You may leave your Esky outside the weigh-in area doors, enter the RSL to sign-in, make your way to the weigh-in area internally, open the doors and retrieve your Esky. The RSL discourages carrying Eskies through the club.

4. Lunch will be a sit down affair prepared by the RSL staff and will be served in the Coral Room. Lunch will be served from 1:30pm.

5. If you are unable to attend the weigh-in due to work commitments or other reasons you can have someone else weigh your fish in for you. I have confirmed with BBHFC that this “proxy weigh-in” practice is acceptable.

Please remember that:

1. Your catch must be in the weigh-in area prior to 2:00pm.

2. If you need to check the size of any of your fish do so prior to placing your catch in the weigh-in area.

3. Each angler’s catch must be in separate Eskies.

The last time we fished this competition we were soundly trounced. Hopefully the outcome this weekend will be in our favour.

Gosford RSL Fishing Club Comp 26/3/23

Only 8 people managed to fish this competition but another new winner for the year in Samar Singh Panwar with an impressive 202.2 points more than doubling the score of the second place Scott Russell on 89.2 point. In third place on the day was Antony Wardle with 43.8 points.

Top Lady on the day was Kim Russell who scored 25.3 points.

As usual Adam Overton managed to be in the prizes but this time he only managed to win the Lucky Angler prize

Gosford RSLFC v The Grange

Unfortunately there were a lot of the club fisho’s unable to attend last weeks competition against the Grange and we lost heavily by 761.3 points to 399.1 points we still produced the days top angle , Adam Overton who score a mightily impressive score of 381.1 points.

Gosford RSL Fishing Club Competition 12/2/22

Despite the rather windy conditions for the weekend there were still plenty of fish weighed in. Top rod on the day was 159.2 points from Antony O’Dwyer with Kevin Timbrell second on 132.0 points. Third was was Craig Ashton on 118.8 points but this was a bone of contention as the captain of the boat he was fishing from (John Hatcher) believed that Craig was catching the fish that should have been his.

Congratulations to three of the clubs anglers Adam Overton, Antony Wardle and Antony O’Dwyer who were picked to represent the Central Coast in the Ron Barnham Competition (Estuary round of the state championship held at Lake Maquarie). The Central Coast team fished well and managed to come second beaten only by Newcastle.

Gosford RSL AGM 2023

Hello Fellow Members,

Attached is notice of our AGM on 5th of February.

Unfortunately, the Ocean Beach Hotel Fishing Club has informed me that they will not be able to field a team to fish in the Peninsula Competition. As a result this long standing competition will fold. The last competition outing will be this coming weekend.

As a result of the Peninsula Competition folding I have included an item “Discuss future competition options” in the AGM agenda.

I have been making enquiries about our club joining the Central Coast Angling Association competition. This competition runs over the financial year so we have a fair bit of time to make a decision on joining.

Cheers
